Frequently Asked Questions

THE GROUP

Have you formed yourselves as a PAC?

Yes, under the name, The Progressive Neighbors Political Action Committee

Does this group give money to candidates?

No. We do not give any money to candidates. The money we raise is used to print materials, to obtain booths at community festivals, to hold meetings, and to do other outreach.

When and how was Progressive Neighbors founded?

In July 2006 in someone's living room. As progressives, we wanted to have an impact on the upcoming fall elections, so we informally formed a group to work for a group of candidates we could all agree on.

How was the Steering Committee selected?

Whoever volunteered and was willing to do work served on the steering committee. At subsequent meetings and by word of mouth, others volunteered and joined the steering committee. If you are interested in serving on the steering committee, please contact us.

Will Progressive Neighbors spread to other areas?

We hope so, but right now we are focusing our efforts on the Silver Spring /Takoma Park area. If you live in another part of Maryland and are interested in starting a similar group, please contact us. We would be happy to share our experiences with you.

Paid for by Progressive Neighbors MD and not authorized by any candidate or candiate's committee.
